County Cross Country 24th February

County Cross Country On Saturday 24th February 2017 students from Wantage took part in the 12th Annual Oxfordshire County Cross Country competition at Chiltern Edge School. We had runners representing the school in every age group from Year 1 to Year 6. In Year 1 Hayden stormed home finishing in a fantastic 2nd place, he was closely followed by the other boys with Dylan 9th, Henry 11th, Noah 14th and Shai 18th. In the girls race Poppy led the Wantage team finishing in 10th place closely followed by Erin in 11th, Agnese 16th, Rhiannon 17th and Lucy in 22nd place. In the year 2 races Mason led the team home in 13th place followed by Jack 14th, Daxton 21st, Angus 24th and Leon in 26th place. In the girls race Cate sped home finishing in 13th Place with team mates Lilly in 21st, Lucy in 20th and Olivia in 25th place. In the KS2 races there were individual standings as well as team awards. In2Hockey competition 6th March 2018

On Tuesday 6th March 2018 the Year 5 and 6 children took part in the In 2 Hockey Festival at Tilsley Park, Abingdon. We entered 2 teams into the competition this year to give all the children who have been attending hockey club the chance to play as a team. Team A – Jessica, Kyra, Daisy, Lacey, Ethan, Bertie, Tom and Alex played in pool one. They played their first match against St Nicolas which with a score of 4-0, their second match against Charlton was another great win with a score of 3-0 and finally their last match against Caldecott was unfortunately a loss of 1-0. Team B – Estelle, Maisie, Kara, Evie, Max, Oliver, Rohan and Charlie played in pool 2. During their matches they drew against North Hinksey and St Nicolas B, and had a loss against Grove 3-0. Wantage A qualified on goal difference for the quarter final against Grove which after full time still had no score, we continued to play until a golden goal was scored which Grove won. Dance Festival 18th January 2018

On Thursday the 18th January 2018 it was the Primary Dance Festival at Wantage Leisure Centre which 9 children from our school attended.
The dance festival this year was based around the theme of ‘safari’ the children learnt some moves taught by King Alfred dance students to the Lion King song ‘Hakuna Matata.’
The children then had the opportunity to make up their own moves to the piece of music to put into their dance. They also learnt how to dance with a partner and added this to their final dance.
In the afternoon after one final rehearsal the children performed their dance to the other schools.
