We played in the 7 a side football league v Caldicott School and the score was 7-1 win to us. Well played everyone.

County Dance Show at Oxford New Theatre 20th November

On Tuesday the 20th November we participated in the County Dance Show at the Oxford New Theatre.
We spent lots of sessions before and after school choreographing a dance with the help of Millie and Erin from King Alfred’s. Our song was ‘Never fully Dressed without a Smile’
We had to decide on an outfit to wear and we choose an American T Shirt, Black leggings and our hair in bunches with red, white and blue ribbons.
On the day we caught the bus from Wantage town to Oxford, we sat at the back of the bus. When we arrived in Oxford we went straight to the theatre for our rehearsal which went really well. The stage was really big!
After this we went for lunch at McDonalds, I had a chicken nugget happy meal and a McFlurry which was delicious.
We headed back to the theatre and got our hair, makeup and clothes ready. We had a sudden change of hair and decided on French plaits into bunches which Mrs Brew did for us all.

Hockey 6th December

U10 Girls Hockey On Thursday 6th December 2018, the year 5 girls’ hockey team went to Cokethorpe to play in their first competition as a team. The girls were very nervous during their first match and found it difficult to play as the pitch made the ball move very fast. The pitch was also much bigger than they were used to! They got themselves organised very quickly though and in their second match they won 2-0! During the afternoon they played match after match with no break in between. They won 2 matches, drew 3 matches and lost 3 matches. The final results were announced and the girls finished in a remarkable 4th place. The girls showed great sportsmanship and teamwork during the afternoon. As a reward for their fantastic achievement the girls enjoyed a delicious afternoon team with Father Christmas! Well done to everyone who took part.

Y5 and Y6 Sportshall Athletics 1st Place

On Thursday the 31st January, the Year 5 and 6 Sportshall Athletics team took part in a competition against other Faringdon and Wantage partnership schools at the new sportshall at King Alfred’s West Site.
The team is made of 9 girls and 9 boys all taking part in relay races, and field events including: obstacle race, over under relay, 6 lap parluuf, 4x1 lap relay, 2x2 lap relay, 2x1 lap relay, speed bounce, chest push, standing long jump, standing triple jump and soft javelin throw.
All the children performed brilliantly during the afternoon, we had many first place positions in our heat and lots of great performances with the field events.
The final positions were announced and Wantage finished in 1st place overall.
Well done to everyone who took part.
