County Cross Country
On Saturday 24th February 2017 students from Wantage took part in the 12th Annual Oxfordshire County Cross Country competition at Chiltern Edge School.
We had runners representing the school in every age group from Year 1 to Year 6. In Year 1 Hayden stormed home finishing in a fantastic 2nd place, he was closely followed by the other boys with Dylan 9th, Henry 11th, Noah 14th and Shai 18th. In the girls race Poppy led the Wantage team finishing in 10th place closely followed by Erin in 11th, Agnese 16th, Rhiannon 17th and Lucy in 22nd place. In the year 2 races Mason led the team home in 13th place followed by Jack 14th, Daxton 21st, Angus 24th and Leon in 26th place. In the girls race Cate sped home finishing in 13th Place with team mates Lilly in 21st, Lucy in 20th and Olivia in 25th place.
In the KS2 races there were individual standings as well as team awards. Starting the races were year 3 boys, Patrick led the boys home is a very respectable 14th place, with Albie closely behind in 17th place. In the girls races Rose led the girls’ home and was just out of the medal standings finishing in 4th place, Annabel was the second Wantage girl home finishing in 6th place. Completing the girls team were Annie, Mikayla, Imarnie and Ruby.
Zachary led the year 4 team home finishing in 4th place, followed closely by Thomas in 9th. The girls’ team all finished closely with Emily 9th, Alice 11th and Elle in 12th place.
Evie powered home for the year 5 girls finishing in a very respectable 7th place. In the boys Harry just missed out on a medal finishing in 4th place, he was followed closely by his team mates Evan 6th, Alfie 8th, Oakley 10th, Toby 11th, Oliver 13th and Ben in 16th.
In the Year 6 boys, Caspar led the race home finishing in 1st place closely followed by Edgar in 2nd, Alex 4th, Henry 7th, Ethan 8th and Alex in 13th place. The girls in year 6 were led home by Rachel in 4th place closely followed by Mia in 11th and Ruby in 17th place.
In the team standings we had some fantastic results:
Year 3 girls – 2nd place
Year 4 boys – 2nd place
Year 4 girls – 2nd place
Year 5 boys – 1st place
Year 5 girls – 3rd place
Year 6 boys – 1st place
Year 6 girls – 3rd place

The overall winners of the whole championships were WANTAGE!!
